Faces Of Pinoy Rock

Nino Quartana has been based in Manila since 2007. As a transient resident, Nino has been discovering the culture & norms of the country plus the undeniable love for food, music, movies & family. Another thing that he learned is the positive, happy attitude of Pinoys – leaving their cares in the wind and with blind faith say, “bahala na si Batman.” He even made this the subject of one of his painting series.
“Music like art is universal. We may speak different languages or in general our cultures differ but music connects & creates this magic bond in all of us. “I personally like jazz but having heard and seen Pinoy rock since I arrived – stirred my interest to create this collection.” Nino said. This is Nino Quartana in Manila – the first 5 years! The rock stars were chosen not just for their musicality but for the distinct look – the uniqueness that has captured the eye of the artist. The project is the first of two themes paying homage to Filipino visual and performing arts.

 

THE PROJECT
The Filipinos’ love for music is much part and parcel the source of inspiration for this project. Add to the fact that there is a Rock Star dream in all of us. The musicality is already a given. And each of the rock stars have carved a niche in the music industry and has earned their places in the heart of the Pinoys This project benchmarks the appeal of Music and marrying it with Visual Arts. Something Cultural yet Pop – It is Art breaking barriers…
